Apple’s upcoming iPhones will offer wireless charging

When the iPhone 8 launches later this year, one of the big new features will reportedly be wireless charging. Multiple rumors have circulated over the past few months, and yet another report claims the feature is indeed a lock.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has weighed in on the iPhone 8 in the past, all three new models will come equipped with the feature, including Apple’s more advanced flagship, which may sport a 5.8-inch OLED display.
In order to accommodate wireless charging technology, Apple will apparently need to get creative with engineering. Kuo claims Apple will use a new 3D Touch module with “additional graphite sheet lamination,” something that will prevent the device from overheating.
While we don’t expect general users to notice any difference, lamination of an additional graphite sheet is needed for better thermal control and, thus, steady operation; this is because FPCB is replaced with film, which is more sensitive to temperature change of the 3D touch sensor in OLED iPhone.

It’s about time we get an iPhone with wireless charging

It’s unclear how Apple will implement the wireless charging feature. It’s very possible Apple will utilize inductive charging like many of its Android competitors. However, a report from the beginning of last year claimed Apple was working on a more advanced wireless charging method that could allow the device to charge when in the proximity of another sensor.
A separate report from yesterday claimed the iPhone 8 could cost upwards of $1,000 because of all the new technology, which may include an OLED display, 3D-sensing technology for facial recognition, and even higher storage option
