Apple Watch Series 2 unveiled: Built-in GPS, water resistance . !

It’s been a constant source of speculation but we finally have concrete details on theApple Watch 2. Apple’s new wearable appears to be the wearable fans have wanted all along and looks to maintain the Apple Watch’s lead as the most popular smartwatch on the market.
Called the Apple Watch Series 2, the new wearable is water-resistant up to 50 meters, making it a great tool for swimmers. Apple said making it water-resistant was a huge challenge, especially because there are so many ports. The company said it redesigned the speaker on the new Watch so that the mechanism actually pushes water out. Neat.
Inside, Apple equipped the Series 2 with a dual-core processor that’s up to 50 percent faster, and a new GPU for faster graphics. That will ensure apps perform much faster; Apple said an app like Night Sky can run at 60fps.
Elsewhere, the display is much brighter at 1,000 nits, making it easier to see outside in bright sunlight. That was one of the biggest hurdles for Apple to overcome, and the company has seemingly addressed that pain point.
The wearable also comes with built-in GPS, so you’ll be able to go for a run without bringing your phone. Just start your run and the Apple Watch will map how far you ran; the GPS connects to satellites instantly. Developers will be able to use GPS, so all your favorite apps should support the new feature.
Many of the features are, as we expected, focused entirely on fitness and activity tracking. With GPS and water-resistance, it’s less of a smartwatch and more of a fitness-focused device. I mean, it reminds users to breathe for crying out loud.
To emphasize the company’s commitment to fitness, Apple has partnered with Nike to create a special edition watch, which comes with a special band and in four different colors. I guess we know why Nike is no longer making hardware.
When it launches, Apple Watch Series 2 will come in aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic, which is basically just a glossy white. It’ll start at $369 and launch in October.
